Why learn Mindfulness on a one-to-one basis?
There are various reasons why you may wish to train in Mindfulness on a one-to-one basis instead of in a group. The most important choices this gives you are that you can:
- Start your Mindfulness training when you want, instead of waiting for a group course to open;
- Have your trainer’s undivided attention;
- Discuss your own progress and questions at length; and
- Choose which areas to focus on according to your specific interests or needs.
Online or In-person
When you choose to train in Mindfulness on a one-to one basis with me, first and foremost you can choose whether to have in-person sessions or online. If you choose to have training in-person, there is no clinic fee. Apart from this, weather permitting, we can meet for sessions al fresco as well. Alternatively, I hold in-person sessions in Zurrieq, Malta.
Some reasons why people turn to Mindfulness
Many people that I work with tell me, ‘I know what I want, but I don’t know what I need’. This is because a lot of people can feel a general dissatisfaction with their life, but they cannot pin-point what it is exactly that they are dissatisfied with.
This general dissatisfaction frequently comes from living on autopilot. The autopilot is when the many shortcuts that the brain creates to navigate life take over. When this happens, we function on half a brain. Our attention is elsewhere most of the time. We don’t experience the moment afresh and this dulls the present moment. What happens next is that automatic thoughts turn to negative emotions, leading to conflict in the mind.
Many people complain of anxiety and a feeling of overwhelm, of unsatisfactory relationships with loved ones, or of anger and reactivity. Others say that they feel drained and never well-rested, that they are not able to focus or that they procrastinate endlessly. In other cases, people describe not being able to experience joy and happiness.
You may have some of these complaints yourself. Or your complaints may by of another nature. You may suffer from chronic pain, insomnia, or other specific needs.
No matter what your individual needs are, the first time we meet I carry out an in-depth Needs Analysis, to get to know you and to plan the best way forward together. You will have my undivided attention throughout. And, we will practice meditation from the very first time that we meet. This means that you will start to get the benefits of meditation from Day 1.
